Oakman Elementary School /  Sponsored by United Way and Target

This Bookworm mural was part of a library project funded by "The United Way" and "Target"

The goal was to show diversity and reading
I chose a theme of reading around the world

Along with famous quotes with in the theme of diversity, and reading

This is me with 3 of the many volunteers from students to residents of the community sponsored by target and the United Way

I made concepts for the volunteers to paint, creating an atmosphere of togetherness.

Along with the World mural in the library, there were places for 7 different paintings to be hung

The idea was the seven different continents, with animals that represent that continent reading, and in the seven different colors of the rainbow

There was also time for little ones to create there own art

The project was a success,

here is one of the designs, Asia, in Red with a Tiger Reading

Painted completely by one of the volunteers

Here is the finished layout of the library

Continents arranged by the colors of the rainbow

Overall it was a fulfilling experience that I would be proud to a part of again

Thank you to United Way, Target and all the volunteers who helped achieve this vision for the library at Oakman Elementary

Painting donated to the family of Sir Carlos Miller,
